Dance Spree in Florida

Did you Know . . .

Why  Line of Dance is counter clock-wise? And why is the lady offset to the man’s right side?

In the 16th century men carried a sword on their left side, so the lady danced on the right side o the man. Gowns were so long that women could not go backwards, as the dress would get caught by their feet. To avoid hitting the audience with swords, couples would move around the floor with the man on the inside, resulting g in them dancing counter-clockwise.
